Tim cook, born in Alabama on November 1, 1960, is the CEO of apple inc. and the chairman of the advisory board of tsinghua university's school of economics and management.

He graduated in industrial engineering from auburn university in 1982. He received a master's degree in business administration from duke university in 1988. He spent 12 years at IBM, where he was responsible for manufacturing and distribution operations for the PC division in North America and Latin America. In early 1998, cook joined apple as vice President in charge of the company's computer-manufacturing business. He took over as CEO from Steve jobs in 2011.

On October 30, 2014, cook published an article on businessweek's website stating that he is gay.

On December 9, 2014, he was selected as time magazine's "person of the year 2014" candidate. On May 12, he was named the financial times' person of the year for 2014.

In March 2015, apple CEO Tim cook planned to give away his entire fortune. Based on his stake in apple, cook's net worth is $120 million.

In April 2016, Out Magazine named Tim cook as "the most influential LGBT person of 2016" after integrating his influence on the economy, politics and the world.

On July 1, 2016, Nike named apple CEO Tim Cook as its lead independent director. In March 2019, after being called "Tim Apple" by trump, Apple CEO Tim Cook officially changed his name to "Tim Apple" on twitter.
