account for有解释说明的意思，但比explain更进一步，有justify的意思，下面是词典中的释义：

而相应的，accountable有两个意思，一个对应justify：

释义：(of a person， organization， or institution) required or expected to justify actions or decisions responsible（人， 组织， 机构）应负责任的 负有责任的：例句1：ministers are accountable to Parliament部长们对议会负责例句2：parents cannot be held accountable for their childrens actions.不能要求父母对其孩子的行为负责。

释义：explicable understandable可解释的 可理解的：例句：the delayed introduction of characters names is accountable， if we consider that names have a low priority.推迟介绍人物姓名是可以理解的， 如果我们认为名字较次要的话。

所以比较两个词的英文释义就比较容易找到关联，如果只是比较中文释义就不太容易发现关联。 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 其实上面不是重点，我最想说的，accountable是个很好的词，反映了很多思想文化在里面，中文找不到合适的对应词，中文只是翻译为负责，但什么是负责，你对XXX负责，首先的要求是你能justify你的行为，如果justify不了，则不可能是负责的，哪怕说的再好听。
